Literature

Byzantine openwork jewellery is decorated with elaborate patterns in gold filigree, granulation, and wire on sheets of gold. Similar workmanship can be found on 'basket' earrings and on the chain terminals for necklaces: I. Kalavrezou, Byzantine Women and their World, New Haven and London, 2003, no. 137; 147.
